Toyota has maintained its position as Australia’s best‑selling automotive brand in January 2026, recording 14,310 deliveries.
The New HiLux, RAV4, and Corolla led the Toyota lineup, with customer demand for these iconic nameplates remaining high.
Ahead of the upcoming Australian launch of the next‑generation RAV4, Toyota has seen strong customer interest for the new model — including, for the first time, a plug‑in hybrid variant.
Toyota Australia Vice President Sales, Marketing and Franchise Operations John Pappas said Toyota’s January result demonstrated the strength of the brand and the ongoing loyalty of Australian customers.
“In late 2025, we celebrated the launch of the ninth‑generation HiLux and had an exceptional run out for the RAV4 – our best-selling vehicle in 2025. In 2026 we will introduce the next‑generation RAV4 — including our first-ever plug‑in hybrid variant for this model.
“As we transition to these new-generation vehicles, we’re seeing a temporary softening in deliveries compared with January last year. This is expected and simply reflects the timing of model updates. Importantly, demand remains strong across the Toyota line-up.
“This year, we remain on track to once again exceed 200,000 sales — which would mark our 15th consecutive year above that milestone. Toyota is proud to be the only brand in Australia to have ever achieved 200,000 annual sales, and we remain focused on delivering the vehicles our customers want, with the quality, durability and reliability they expect.”
