Toyota has continued to build sales momentum through 2026 on the back of increased vehicle supply, with 20,409 total new-vehicle sales in July representing a strong 19.7 per cent market share across an industry total of 103,656.1
Toyota’s clear market leadership was led by strong sales for the all-new RAV4 and new-generation HiLux which helped propel Toyota to its best-selling month of 2026. The 20,409-unit total marked a month-on-month increase of 6.7 per cent compared to June, helped by increased supply over multiple model lines.
The all-new RAV4 was Australia’s most popular model in July with 5,564 total units sold, which also represented RAV4’s best result in 2026. The first-ever RAV4 plug-in hybrid has resonated with customers since going on sale in June, with 39 per cent of July RAV4 sales being made up of the new powertrain technology.
The new-generation HiLux finished the month as the number-one-selling pick-up with 4,721 new registrations, more than 4000 of which were in 4x4 guise.
Multiple vehicles recorded their best monthly sales result of the year including the family-friendly LandCruiser Prado 4x4 with 2082 units and the flagship LandCruiser 300 Series with 1397 units, 12 per cent of which were of the newly introduced performance hybrid powertrain.
Take-up of the newly introduced bZ4X Touring all-electric SUV has also been strong, with approximately 30 per cent of bZ4X volume coming from the more powerful and spacious flagship variant.
The popularity of Toyota electrified powertrain technology was evident in July with 53 per cent of all new-vehicle sales coming from hybrid, plug-in hybrid and battery-electric vehicles.
Toyota Australia Vice President Sales, Marketing and Franchise Operations John Pappas said that the strong July result reflected the increased supply and reduced wait times of key vehicles for Toyota customers.
“It’s fantastic to see the increased supply coming into Australia to satisfy customer demand, which has been a real focus for Toyota,” Mr Pappas said.
“We are experiencing sustained, strong customer demand across our product range, which we believe will keep us on track to achieving 230,000 sales be the end of the year.
“And pleasingly, more than half of all vehicles sold in July featured electrified powertrain technology, showing Toyota’s multi-pathway approach of offering customers the right powertrain to suit their lifestyle.”
